Our local chapter maintains a message board which is only accessible to our members. Members regularly post tons of information about local events, club business and often pose questions to fellow member about local pre-schools, sports, schools and more. We also maintain our monthly calendar of activities on our message board and members can ask questions and RSVP in one central place.
Monthly activities can include but are not limited to the following:
Chef Mom
Chef Mom is a monthly cooking activity group that tempts the palate while providing playtime for the children. The host chooses a theme – such as a single ingredient, a holiday, an ethnic food or a type of dish. Whatever the stomach desires! Each participant prepares a dish at home and brings it to the host’s house for a taste testing! While the children play, the Moms get to enjoy delicious food and social time! Recipes are exchanged so everyone can enjoy the food at a later date.
Crafty Kids
Crafty Kids is a monthly playgroup open to children of all ages. Hosting is also open to any mom who wants to participate. Each month the children are offered a different arts and crafts activity to complete. Anything goes, as long as it’s fun and child oriented! The Crafty Kids Coordinator also provides suggestions for fun activities for the kids.
Helping Hands
We all know how overwhelming it can be those first few weeks at home with a new baby. Helping Hands is a program that provides meals to moms who have recently had a baby. The Helping Hands Coordinator informs the membership when a mom has given birth and asks for volunteers to cook a meal for the new parents. The goal is to provide 3 meals per week for 3 weeks. Having a home cooked meal delivered to your door is an invaluable gift when you are home with a newborn!
Book Club
Each month, a book is selected for discussion. The book club coordinator chooses the first book to read and then takes recommendations for future months. The books are listed one or two months in advance. The book club typically meets at the end of the month to give moms time to read the book. The moms meet during the day and while the children keep active, the moms discuss the book. The moms attending have their questions ready for the meeting.
